I was excited for the reboot of this 80’s classic because it appeared to be closer to the book, moving the game outside the studio into the real world. After watching it I realized why the original skewed from the book. The chaos of the outside elements made the Reboot seem a bit all over the place. Not a lot of the characters came through, from a portrayal and story sense. The contestants are being chased mainly by Goon squad military types vs the corny characters like in the original. Kind of a bummer. I miss Fireball & Subzero aka “Plain Zero.” Although maybe Michael Cera’s character was the 2025 version of Dynamo because I don’t know wtf that was. But I wasn’t disappointed. I knew what I signed up for and Glenn Powell is not Swartzenegger and that’s fine. I expected an entertaining kick ass version of The Running Man and I did get a version of that so nice goin.
