A film that will perform poorly commercially, yet slowly gain recognition and praise as audiences age, experience more, and reflect. The fact is the album Nebraska and the story around it is heavy and not everyone wants to hang out in the darkness on the edge of town. But after reading the book and experiencing Scott Cooper’s take I continue to see it as one of the most influential times an artist has ever given us as well as offering new perspectives on A: recording music and 2: channeling expression when the shit goes South. I think a text book example of how low times can play catalyst for great art. So anyone standing on rock bottom go out and muster some Art.
I’m just glad they made this movie so we all know why we have to crank the volume when we play the Nebraska Album. Ha. And Scott Cooper maybe give me one more live performance at the end there, before the final dad & Bruce scene. I think a small comeback giving us chills opportunity was missed but that’s probably just me wanting more. The more in bed you are with Bruce the better the connection is to everything Nebraska and Deliver Me From Nowhere.”
